WeatherOnTheRoute (“we”, “our”, “us”) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use the WeatherOnTheRoute iOS app and how that information is used.
- Trip and location inputs: Start/end places, route waypoints, and map interactions needed to build and display your route weather forecast.
- Saved routes: Routes you choose to save are stored locally on your device using iOS app storage.
- Subscription and purchase status (optional): If subscriptions are enabled, RevenueCat and/or Superwall may process purchase and entitlement events to manage your Pro access.
- Diagnostics and network metadata: Standard request metadata (for example, IP address and request timing) may be processed by third-party APIs your app calls.
We use the above information to:
- Build driving routes and weather previews along your trip
- Show radar and weather alert overlays
- Save your chosen routes on-device
- Enable and restore subscription access where available
- Maintain app reliability and prevent abuse
Third-party services
The app relies on third-party providers to deliver core functionality. Data you submit in the app may be sent to:
- Open-Meteo (weather forecast data)
- OSRM (route generation)
- Nominatim/OpenStreetMap services (place search and geocoding)
- RainViewer (radar tiles)
- National Weather Service (US weather alerts)
- RevenueCat and Superwall (only when subscription features are enabled)
- Apple (for iOS platform services, billing, and app distribution)
Each provider has its own privacy practices and terms.
Data storage and retention
- Saved routes are stored locally on your device until you delete them.
- We do not require account creation to use the app.
- We do not knowingly sell personal information.
Data sharing
We share data only as needed to operate app features through the third-party services listed above, comply with legal obligations, or protect users and the app.
Children’s privacy
WeatherOnTheRoute is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your choices
- You can remove saved routes in the app.
- You can uninstall the app to remove local app data.
- You can manage location permissions in iOS Settings.
- You can manage subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material updates will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
